Introduction to SF Practice in Education

This two day introduction will be aimed at the whole cross section of professionals in education including psychologists, special needs staff, teachers, school nurses and social workers, education welfare officers, learning mentors and school pastoral staff. It will cover the same basic ground as the 2 day general introductory course but the examples given will be taken exclusively from an education context.

Our two day courses cover all the main elements of the solution focused approach including:
  • Negotiating the commission
  • Detailing the preferred future
  • Eliciting what is already working
  • Putting scales to work
  • Highlighting change
  • Solution focused summaries
  • Offering suggestions
These will be covered in lectures, discussions, recorded examples and exercises. By the end of the course each member should have a sufficient grounding to try out at least some of these techniques in their everyday work.
If the course is done with a colleague or if the participant works with others using the approach then for some it will provide a good enough basis for becoming a reasonably competent solution focused practitioner.
All participants will be provided with a Manual to support their practice after the course and follow-up support will be available on-line.
