Creating a Solution Focused School - Linda Metcalf

Imagine a school where there are drastically fewer discipline referrals, where students develop their own academic strategies for success, where parents welcome the chance to come to school and participate and where teachers and students build a common purpose.

Such schools exist, not in a state of perfection, but where these values and relationships are the norm. And they have come into being through the application of solution focused thinking.

This workshop will reveal the premises behind using a solution focused approach in schools with students of all ages. Additionally, participants will learn how to reduce special education referrals and keep students in the classroom.
Linda Metcalf is an inspiring and popular speaker. A psychologist and teacher in Texas, she has written some of the most ground-breaking work on the use of solution focused thinking in schools, most recently The Solution Focused School Wiley 2008.
