Pathways to Solution with Children and Adolescents

Thursday 10am – 5pm

Friday 10am- 4.30pm

Cost £300 (incl VAT)

(Three people booking at the same time will receive the third place free)

Matthew Selekman is one of the great pioneers of solution focused brief therapy with children and adolescents. His first two books opened many pathways to creative work and in the past decade he has gone on to develop, expand and refresh his ideas. Matthew is not afraid to cross boundaries and draws his inspiration from many sources including neuroscience, systems theory, mindfulness, rituals, experiments and behind it all, research.

Any professional working with children, adolescents and families will find this an immensely useful and practical two days in which one of the world’s leading brief therapists will share his experience and pass on his skills. Matthew is a seasoned and responsive presenter well able to incorporate the issues raised by participants as his workshop develops. He will cover among other things:

  • Effective strategies for engaging and building therapeutic alliances
  • Conducting transformative and solution-determined conversations
  • Working with high risk clients, including suicidal and self harming young people
  • Involving larger systems: professionals and clients’ social networks
  • Developing therapeutic artistry: the improvisational use of self
  • Guidelines for crafting useful questions
  • Therapeutic experiments to co-create compelling future realities

This two day event will be highly interactive with opportunities for all participants to learn and practice new skills.
